United States Tennis Association Selects BallenIsles to host tournament

Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Sun, Oct 30, 2011 – Day 5 – BallenIsles Country Club’s state-of-the-art Sports Complex was the scene of great tennis action all week as host of the USTA National Women’s 50 Clay Court Championships. Matches began on Wednesday, October 26  and  continued all week with the finals on Sunday.

And even rain couldn’t stop the finals of the Clay Court Championships at BallenIsles Country Club. The # 2 seed Diane Fishburne played a great match to defeat #1 seed Fran Chandler in a close three set match 5-7,6-2,6-3 in the singles final.

The doubles final saw #1 seeds Tracy Worley-Hagen and partner Kathy Vick  defeat pick up team and surprise finalists Sue Bartlett and Anne Lowry 6-2,6-3.

BallenIsles Tennis Director Trish Faulkner added to her national title collection by winning the 3rd place bronze ball with partner and former student, Marianne Caplan in a close match 4-6,6-0,6-4 against Lynn Ellis and Lori Robertson.

Local Palm Beach Gardens resident Julie Farina added to her national wins this year by coming in 3rd in the singles and taking the bronze ball by defeating Kathy Vick 6-3,6-1.

“All players enjoyed their time at BallenIsles Country Club and hope to return for the Les Grandes Dames senior international tournament for 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80-year-olds January 18 – 22, 2012,” BallenIsles Tennis Director Trish Faulker said.
