Lake Worth, Fl. Jan 20, 2017 – Bucky Dent, the former New York Yankee who made history with his home run against the Boston Red Sox and as a World Series MVP, has again attracted a sold-out field from the world of sports for the Bucky Dent 33nd Annual Florida Invitational at The Falls Club, January 29-30, 2017.
“This year marks the 40th anniversary of the 1977 New York Yankee World Championship and so I’m delighted that most of the infield of that Championship Team will be playing in the tournament which tees off on January 30,” Bucky Dent said.
On tap to attend the golf invitational are former first baseman Chris Chambliss, and Graig Nettles, former third baseman, who, along with former shortstop Bucky Dent, made up three fourths of the 1977 New York Yankees infield. Chambliss will be recognized as the event’s special honoree.
Current New York Mets superstar Yoenis Cespedes, fresh off of signing a 4-year, $110 million contract, and former New York Yankee catcher Rick Cerone, are also scheduled to play in the invitational.
“The golf course of the Falls Club is immaculate and the staff, food and facilities are first class. It’s the reason we’ve been coming back to the Falls Club for our golf invitational every year for more than 10 years, because it is one of the best clubs in Florida. We absolutely love The Falls Club!” Dent said.
Dent famously hit a Red Sox Mike Torrez pitch, over the Green Monster in the top of the seventh inning of a season tie-breaker game to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead for the Yankees, who ultimately repeated as World Champions in 1978.
Part of the proceeds from the event will go to local charities, including, the Miracle League of Delray, the Delray Beach American Little League, and to “Embraced With Love,” a program envisioned by Dent’s late wife which provides cancer patients with blankets during chemotherapy treatments, hospice care, and funds to need-based patients.
The Falls Club recently completed a multi-million-dollar capital improvement project that embraced a new lifestyle, brand, new members, spectacular enhancements to its championship golf course and an inspired club house redesign. The Falls Club premier golf experience, high-end services and amenities are further enhanced by a fully appointed golf shop, a premier caddie program, multiple tennis courts, tennis professionals and health club with certified personal trainers.
